Viraj graduated from the University of Maryland, Baltimore with a Master’s degree in Physical Therapy and is a licensed Physical Therapist in Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania.   She has a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Pittsburgh. She has been practicing as a Physical Therapist in various orthopedic and sports medicine settings in the Maryland and Pennsylvania area including University of Maryland Medical Center and National Rehabilitation Hospital. She is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association, Orthopedic Section in Virginia.

Viraj’s treatments are multifaceted and utilize various advanced manual or hands-on therapeutic techniques to aid in healing and improving function.   She is trained and specializes in Muscle Energy Methodology to relieve spinal joint restrictions which aid in reducing back pain.  She relies firmly on Evidenced Based Research to guide her treatment and refine her skills.  Her unique treatment addresses the body as a whole to help alleviate abnormal movement patterns and restore normal motion. Her technique creates balance within the body, ultimately reducing the risk of injury that can occur with everyday life.

A great complement to her Physical Therapy practice was her introduction to Pilates.  She recently became certified through BASI training under the world renowned Rael Isakowitz.  She immediately started incorporating Pilates to her practice as a Physical Therapist and has observed life changing results with her patients.

Viraj is passionate about the human body, health, and healing.  She recently dedicated three months as a life coach to her parents in Pennsylvania.  She coached her father who is overweight, diabetic, and arthritic on nutrition, exercise, and stress reduction.   Her father was able to lose 35 pounds and her mother, who had high cholesterol, was able to lose 10 pounds. Her career as a Physical Therapist, as well as her passion to heal and improve the quality of life of so many individuals, was the impetus that led to Mind and Body.
